Heating systems in Iowa spend half of the year inactive and it is natural for us to forget about our furnaces and heating systems during the spring, summer and early fall months. But the Des Moines area does have its fair share of harsh winters, and when the frigid days show up, we need the heat in our home to show up too.
Most electric and gas furnace issues stem from mechanical problems due to lack of maintenance. Whether there’s an issue with air flow, failed parts, or problems with the burners, our furnace technicians at Metro Heating and Cooling can solve it all!

What size of furnace do I need for my house?
There is only one “True” way of knowing what size of HVAC equipment you need in your house and that is through an ACCA approved manual J, D & S load calculations. With a Manual J, D & S HVAC load calculations, we enter all the relevant data, such as the home’s orientation, insulation levels, window types, areas of all the surfaces that gain or lose heat, and more. The output of the calculation is how much cooling and heating the house needs in Btu per hour for each room, each zone, and the whole house.
